Get the special interests out of the electoral and legislative process. We need to work hard to reduce big money influence in politics. It will take leadership and courage to fix our electoral process. Unfortunately there is not enough political will to do so. The people will need to lead on this issue until we get a political leader willing to do what is right.

Common sense allows us to view issues in a pragmatic fashion. When any issue is caught up in bias, its capacity for reason is diluted. Many a bill has been compromised to meet the needs of bias rather than the public good. This usually depends on who has the voting power in congress.

Our forefathers considered a direct democracy when crafting the Constitution and were reticent to adopt the model as they felt that minorities may not be properly represented. In our current system it seems that the biggest concerns are special interests that use money and influence to sway public opinion and political direction.
